Tilley Swamp (Environmental Association 1.2.7)

location map showing Tilley Swamp (Environmental Association 1.2.7)

An elongated interdunal plain with numerous swamps and small lakes, generally fringed on the east by low lunettes. There is no integrated natural drainage network but a system of drains has been constructed. The plain is open parkland sown to pasture for grazing beef cattle and wool sheep. The swamps carry heath and sedgeland, some of which is reserved a conservation park but most of it is used for light grazing.

Locally enclosed landscapes are formed by dense stands of teatree around swamps. Middleground perspective views are provided by the calcarenite ridges of adjacent associations.
