A plain sloping gently to the east and bounded along the coast by dunes and tidal mudflats or lakes, and low cliffed headlands. Natural vegetation has been cleared and sown pastures and cereal crops dominate the vegetative cover.

Panoramic views over the plain have lakes and swamps as local features. In the west they are backed by associations 4.1.8 and 4.1.9, towards the east by the Spencer Gulf and offshore islands. Tidal flats are local features in the shoreline scenery.
