Coolatoo (Environmental Association 1.1.5)

location map showing Coolatoo (Environmental Association 1.1.5)

Extensive high sand dunes rising along the coastline from a sandy beach. These dunes are active and several blowouts are present. Numerous elongated lagoons have developed behind the dune system. Despite the erosion hazard, much of the association has been cleared and sown to pastures. Beef cattle are common and some coarse and fine wool sheep are also grazed. Kingston and Robe are important coastal recreation and fishing centres.

The foredunes provide panoramas of the ocean and coastline. In the north, lagoons act as features in a detailed and locally enclosed landscape.
