Port MacDonnell (Environmental Association 1.1.4)

location map showing Port MacDonnell (Environmental Association 1.1.4)

A sandy, gently sloping beach backed by sand dunes and a coastal plain. Consolidated dunes occur locally near the inland margins of the association. Most land has been cleared and sown to pastures but there is one area of natural vegetation reserved in a conservation park. Coastal recreation centres on Port Macdonnell.

Locally, enclosed and detailed views are provided by the varied landforms and vegetation of Piccaninnie Ponds Conservation Park. Panoramic views of oceans and coastal plain are provided by local high dunes.
