Lake Hawdon (Environmental Association 1.2.3)

location map showing Lake Hawdon (Environmental Association 1.2.3)

Low calcarenite dunes and stony plains surrounding seasonal brackish swamps which constitute Lake Hawdon. The dunes and plains, cleared to open parkland, are sown to pastures grazed mainly by beef cattle with some sheep. The sedgelands are used for light grazing.

Views from the swamps are enclosed in the foreground by paperbark teatrees. Middleground views from both swamps and plains are enclosed on three sides by dunes. The dunes, in turn, provide panoramic views over lower units of both this and adjacent associations.
