Nene (Environmental Association 1.1.3)
Unconsolidated dunes to 30 m high and separated by narrow overlying an older dune system, now indurated to calcarenite, which locally gives rise to low but steep cliffs. The swales and exposures of underlying consolidated dunes have been cleared and sown to pastures used mainly for beef cattle grazing. Considerable areas remain under natural vegetation, some of which are in conservation parks.
Local headlands provide panoramic views of the ocean and coastline, and high dunes also provide panoramic views over adjacent inland units. Within the association, local enclosed and detailed views occur within the dune complex.
