Ridges on quartzite and dolomite, and long fans occasionally overlain with dunes. There is a mixed cover os low chenopod shrubland, grassland, low open woodland with a shrub understory, tall shrubland with an understory of grasses and ephemeral forbs, and fringing woodland. All are used for extensive livestock grazing.
