Kybybolite (Environmental Association 1.5.1)

location map showing Kybybolite (Environmental Association 1.5.1)

A gently undulating plain of Tertiary sands with local ferruginous cappings and scattered low dunes. Lunettes have developed on the fringes of sinkholes and depressions created by solution of the underlying limestone, some of which contain lakes or swamps. There is no integrated surface drainage but much of the water disappears underground. The land has been cleared to open parkland and sown to pasture which is grazed moderately intensively by beef cattle and sheep.

Lakes, swamps and forest remnants constitute local features in middleground panoramic views.
