A complex of undulating plains and low hills on shales, with low limestone or sandstone hogback ridges. There is a cover of low open woodlands and tall shrublands with a mixed understory of low chenopod shrubs, grasses and ephemeral forbs, and grasslands, all used for extensive livestock grazing. Part of the association is also reserved for nature conservation.
